Summary teacher #3

Man that is cool how your student express herself and she learned that from you because you did a different style of teaching. I saw what you meant on creating a good environment for the students. Making them feel like the teacher wants to get to know them. Hope your new class enjoys the way you teach just like your old class did.

I am interested in finding out how it turns. I hope you have many teachers do this, because I agree they need to learn some new ways of teaching the information to student and keep them interested in that subject.

I really like this teacher attitude on how to motivate and keep students interested in school subjects. I also, like how he is trying to make it easier on teachers to learn the new technology that is being uses and let them learn at their pace. So that when they are done they will want to use the new methods in their class rooms

Blog Assignment #6

The Networked Student By Wendy Drexler

Well I watched and listened to the video and I believe the teacher is need to explain, demonstrate, and show how social networking can help the student expand their mind. I found it really interesting on how the student would not need a textbook, the teacher does not lecture much, and how you do your home work is through networking with other people on the internet. At the moment I am probably not ready for a networked student but I am taking classes. That will make me ready to teach networked students. The way the video shows how technology is continuously improving and changing the way many communicate with other people.

A 7th Grader's Personal Learning Environment (or PLN0)

The students PLE was very well organized from school to fun play links. Comparing it to mine right now. She has hers much more organized than mine right now and has more links that are helpful for her in school but mine is slowly improving.

The Machine is Changing Us

It gave me plenty to think about on how it relates to my experiences right now and how as a teacher most keep up with the ways people communicate with one another. I thought the overall presentation was funny at certain points but his points were understood real well.

C4K Summary

Hey Serenity I have a much smaller family than you, I have two younger twin sisters and my parents Tom and Ginger. Somethings that I like to do is play basketball, video games, and hangout with friends. Serenity I am just like you in math I struggle in many areas. I like physical activity classes are my strength.Serenity good on your blog I really learned about you keep it up.

Hey Serenity I deal with the some of the same difficulties in middle school but made some goals to improve in some of the same areas as you. An I improve and became better in all the areas. So keep at it and you make your the grades you want to make.

Wow they had everything taken from them. Are their any relief funds being started to help buy supplies for them. Since they have lost everything. What other groups are helping the people of Christchurch. Please keep me informed about how everything is going for the next couple of week.

Well in the three post that I was assigned two of them were from one girl. Were I learned about some of her likes and dislikes in school subjects. How big her family was and some info about an assignment about what she thought might improve a class room. The other post I read this week I found out about an earthquake that happen overseas and how it took everything away from a group of people. Through the first three post I have read I really like how teachers are using technology to improve the class room.

Blog Assignment #5

The Benefits of Podcast in the Classroom
http://joedale.typepad.com/integrating_ict_into_the_/2009/04/the-benefits-of-podcasting-in-the-classroom
Judy Scharf Podcast Collection

Eagle Nest Radio & Class Blog
http://blog.woodward.edu/ps_edmison/?cat=103

Between the three different links I went to learn more about podcasting. Each one of them show a much different way to use podcasts. One used it to do a audio presentation on Roman history. Another one used it for reading assignments to make them more interesting. The other one is on how to create a podcast. My thought on it is that it was really interesting in how each one of them used podcast to create a way to keep students active in the class and make it fun.

Summary teacher #2

Well Mr. jdeyenberg I like how the class used the ability to do a video conference in a class room so that each class could show the other what they had learn which made the class more enjoyable.
I am a student at the University of South Alabama and in Dr. strange EDM 310 class. I am physical education major and plan to be a basketball coach at the high school or college level. I like the way you use Easter eggs as a way to have exercises in a creative way to educate students to stay active.

Mr. Jdeyenberg in the two post that I read were on how to use new and creative ways to learn. In one way that Mr. Jdeyenberg used creativity was having a live feed with another class and having his students share and compare their results with the other class and reviewed their findings. In another way he used a holiday activity to promote exercise and daily activity.

Blog Assignment #4

Don't teach your kids this stuff
http://dangerouslyirrelevant.org/2009/08/dont-teach-your-kids-this-stuff-please.html

I like the unique display of getting your point across. I agree and disagree with some of his points. I agree that we should keep an eye on what are kids are looking up on the internet. But I don't agree with him on that you should just keep them from using a computer but make sure they don't get into anything they shouldn't be into. Because technology is becoming one of the better ways to teach children about areas that will help them later in life. I like that he is try to bridge a gap that he sees in the educational system. Like trying to speed up schools and slow down the pace of technology so that they will meet some where in the middle. (Scott McLeod is a Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Iowa State University and a Director of UCEA Center for the Advanced Studies of Technology Leadership in Education. He also has been a professor at Minnesota and Cincinnati, been a middle teacher, graduate assistant,a legal intern, a camp counselor, and a university hall director.)

The iSchool Initiative

In the video the some of the arguments that he makes for today's schools into iSchool. Some of the points he bring up are that it would save money the student, teacher, and school. By making where each student would be give a iphone with all the application from school for all their classes. It would help teacher because the could be able to grade the assignment they give out quicker and keep up better with students that are struggling in certain areas. Which would make were they could talk to them after class or by email without letting the other students know. The school would benefit because like the senior who did this video said it would cut down the cost that they spend on each student by $450 dollars per student and it would help the environment. I really like the idea that was proposed in the video it look like that would help school budgets, so that they wouldn't have to cut teachers. I'd like to if a school would try it for a year and see if it ends up saving them money. If it works then start trying more and more. An I believe it would keep the students interested in their classes.

The Lost Generation

At first I was like this is depressing and I know I don't want that to be true. But when the second message was given I was like yes that is what I want everyone to strive for to energized and wanting to keep their families together and believe that we can change the world it just takes one person to make a push in that direction. After watching the video I thought the technique she used was awesome and it keeps the person watching it til it is done.

Eric Whitaker" Virtual Choir

I think it is pretty cool that none of these people had never met and yet they put on a great performance. It just shows how much technology has improved. Making were you can start doing meets and other things without having to have everybody there because they could use the internet to do meeting and anything else.

Blog #3

yes this presentation of how college life is very close to what i have experience through my first two years of college. Some of the differences are that many of my teacher do know my name and the size of my classes has been much smaller than most have experienced. The size of my classes were about twenty-five to thirty-five.
Then some of my experiences are similar to that of the students in the move. Like have some students not even show up for class and others bring their laptop to class and doing other things besides class work. They could add other clips from other classes to see if their are the same kind of college experiences in different class room settings.

http://eduratireview.com/2009/04/its-not-about-technology.html/

I agree with Mrs. Hines about teachers most have the ability to learner new information and ways of teaching so that we can use technology. To improve in the way students learn from us. I really like how she says that teach and learning are two different things and how teachers should approach each day with goals to lead to a successful day. I also agree with Mrs. Hines on technology doesn't make a good teacher. To be a good teacher you have to put forth the effort to learning any new way or information that would makes us better and keep an opened mind to the fact that ways of teaching students is always changing. I also like the emphasis on be a teacher who doesn't always depend on technology to teach the material for a certain subject.

http://thefischbowl.blogspot.com/2007/09/is-it-okay-to-be-technologically.html

You really change my view on whether a teacher should be technology illiterate. My thinking was you could probably get by but now that i finished reading your post my thinking is that you most differently should be technologically savvy. Mr. Karl Fisch is totally right about how we should be looking at be able to do what we are teaching to the students.

It means that with the way that technology is improving just makes it were teacher will need to continuously learning new material to stay up to date on how to improve their teaching techniques.

Summary teach #1

Well Mr. Joe Bower from what you are saying the Grade Level of Achievement data scheme is doing more useless things in school. Than help you and the teachers on assessing the students to help improve the education program. With the whole ordeal being opposed by the Alberta Teachers' Association is the GLAR listening to what you and other teachers think would improve the system? One question I have is how is this affecting school budgets right now and in the future? My name is TJ I am in edm310.

Hey Mr. Joe Bower i really like how use this post to pose the question of how to respond with children and was wondering if you had any suggestions to help parents improve upon this kind of thinking.

In the two post Mr. Joe Bower was talking about why GLAR was not helping the schools improve teaching methods of subjects and making school budgets real tight. Then in the other post Mr. Joe Bower poses a question in how to approach young children and respond to what they are saying. From the two post I have already stared to think differently about how to become even a teacher and parent in the future.

Additional Assignment #1

Well both google squared and wolfam alpha can help in math and history because i think it would the most in those two subjects. No I did not know about either one these sites. Not really my view this is still the same. Wow the United States is small compare to India or China.

That is amazing that the six year boy could just work that computer without getting any instructions that is real cool.
